The best barbecue in St. Augustine depends mostly on where you already are, because the pits are spread from the Old City to the beach. Here are six, sorted by location.
In the Old City: Mojo Old City on Cordova Street, the St. Augustine outpost of the Jacksonville Mojo family since 2012. It covers the regional styles in one menu, and dogs are welcome on both patios.
Up US-1: Smokin' D's smokes for six to fifteen hours and closes when the meat runs out, so call ahead. Further north, Brisky's has been family-owned since 2018 with a 16-hour smoke and a bar with the game on. It has no website, which is why its profile leans on the visitor bureau and Yelp.
By the water: Fire & Smoke is a family truck parked for good at Marina Munch, the food truck park at English Landing Marina. It can sell out.
At the Fountain of Youth: Smoked Southern is a barbecue cafe in the attraction's parking lot, which makes it the easiest lunch on a sightseeing day.
At the beach: Jack's BBQ, a block from the ocean with a full bar and a brewery next door. It is marked for re-checking: no website, and a commercial listing for the building exists. Call first.
