St. Augustine has exactly one fully plant-based kitchen we could verify, and it is The Sprout Kitchen on Charlotte Street. Everything else here is a kitchen that marks its vegan dishes on its own menu, which is the test every venue on this list had to pass.
Vegetarian first: Buena Onda Cafe on West King Street cooks only vegetarian, marks a vegan swap for most dishes, and keeps its soup vegan. Out on State Road 16, The Manatee Cafe is mostly vegetarian and swaps in vegan on request.
Vegan options done properly: The Floridian keys vegan and gluten-free plates on the menu and adds tofu or tempeh to most of them. Purple Olive marks its vegan dishes, Osprey Tacos names vegan options on its homepage, and Crave lists its vegan items by name, cashew queso included.
Three names you will still find on vegan roundups are closed: Present Moment Cafe (its space is now Buena Onda), Back 40 Urban Cafe, and Bea's Fine Foods. And a few places whose vegan reputation comes only from old roundups, not their own menus, were left off until they say it themselves. Every vegan kitchen we track is on the vegan category page.
